Day 9 & 10

Cinque Terre

Our bus driver expertly navigated us from Pisa to Levanto, where we boarded a train to Monterosso al Mare, the first town in the five that make up the Cinque Terre.  The next day was spent hiking almost the entirety of the Cinque Terre trail (with the exception of one section that is permanently closed).

There are multiple ways to see the towns of the Cinque Terre.  One, of course, is to hike (left, intrepid hikers looking dubious about tackling the most difficult portion first).  Another is to take the ferry (right, the ferry heading to Vernazza with tour members on board).  The final way is to take the train, we all did coming back after a long day of hiking.

Two views from the trail, one of Corniglia as we were leaving and one approaching Vernazza again, this time from the south.
